Poland opens world's deepest swimming pool

A 45.5 meter (150 feet) deep pool has been inaugurated near the Polish capital Warsaw, which is also the deepest pool in the world.

According to the French news agency AFP, the swimming pool consists of underground artificial caves and the ruins of the ancient Maya civilization.
The pool has been dubbed 'Deep Spot' with a place for scuba and free divers.
This pool contains 8,000 cubic meters of water, which is 20 times more than the normal 25-meter pool.

Unlike other swimming pools, the deep spot in Poland can open despite coronavirus restrictions because it is a training center that also offers a variety of courses.
There are also plans to set up a hotel for guests to see the divers in the pool to a depth of 5 meters.
"It's the deepest pool in the world," the Deep Post director said at the opening of the swimming pool.

It currently holds the Guinness World Record for the deepest pool in the world, near the Monte Greto Term swimming pool in Italy and is 42 meters deep.
In addition, the Blue Abyss Pool, which will open in the UK next year in 2021, will be 50 meters deep.
The 39-year-old diving instructor says the pool doesn't have many fish and coral reefs, so it's not an alternative to the ocean, but it's a great place to learn and train to dive safely in the open.
"It's great, like kindergarten for divers," said Jersey Novak, a 30-year-old forestry officer.

"The first time we went to a depth of 5 meters, but you can see the ruins and caves below," he said.
The director of the swimming pool said that it will also be used by the fire brigade and the army, there are many scenes for training and various equipments can be tested here.
It took more than two years to build the pool, which used 5,000 cubic meters of concrete and cost about 40 million zlotys (more than 10 million dollars or 8.9 million euros).
